Keep Your Recycling Coming !

We are still collecting your recycling items for our art projects.  I have to say I am excited to see students still showing up at my door first thing in the morning with a bag of used cardboard tissue and paper towel rolls.   The fact that the kids remember to collect them ( then carry them on the bus ) and remember to bring them to my room is pretty cool I would have to say!  I am not sure that I would have been as brave as they are to carry a bag of toilet tissue rolls to school for the art teacher. So that's a BIG shout out to the students.  Our recycle box is full again and we have enough rolls for about 3 classes worth of art projects so keep them coming so all the classes can do a project using them.

The box can be emptied in about three days when we do an art project with them.  I have posted some of the picture that we have done thus far.  Some of the student brought the projects home so that they can re-make them there.  I am collecting the projects for the spring at show in April. I am hoping they remember to bring them back.  Even if they don't they do not mind doing another project with them.  They really enjoy making  the characters out of the tissue rolls and the beautiful hanging designs out of the paper towel rolls.  Thank you again for helping your child remember to bring them to art class.  Your support is appreciated.  If you haven't seen too much artwork come home thus far it  is because we are saving it for the art shows that are coming up.  The students really enjoyed painting the rocks for the holiday gifts this year.  I am pretty sure we will do it again with the new groups for the show because they came out amazing.

YAM BPS (youth arts month) will be very soon and we will have a select group of about 10-20 students work displayed at Boston City Hall. More information will be forthcoming about that and as you may know our own Curley Arts Night is in April as well.  I am always asked by the students "We are having an art show?" I remind them we have for the last 5+ years.  I tell them it's almost always the Thursday night the week before April vacation starts.  So this year our show will be I believe April 11th which, seems like it is early this year.  We better get busy!

Anyone wanting to help out previous to the show in the art classrooms please email me here or at my school email  account which is: cwall@boston.k12.ma.us, I will post more information for you on the Curley web site when we get a bit closer.  Right now we are heating up to design the sets for Ms. Knights performance of FIREBIRD which is so exciting!  So stay tuned for more information on all the events we have planned.
